Depression
Depression is not a temporary mood and is not a sign of personal weakness. Depression is a serious medical condition with a variety of symptoms. Emotional symptoms can include sadness, loss of interest in things you once enjoyed, feelings of guilt or worthlessness, and trouble making decisions. Physical symptoms can include fatigue, aches and pains, and changes in weight or sleep patterns.
There are many theories about the cause of depression. One of the most common suggests that two naturally occurring chemicals, serotonin and norepinephrine, affect core mood and pain symptoms of depression. If serotonin and norepinephrine are out of balance, the effect can be felt both in the brain and the body. You can feel both the emotional and the physical symptoms of depression.
After an examination and talking to you about your symptoms, your provider may recommend medication and or counseling. It’s important to continue to keep all your follow up appointments with your provider so your condition can be monitored
